Colinsburgh - Our Colourful Community
Information on Colinsburgh - Our Colourful Community
Colinsburgh first participated in the Beautiful Fife initiative in 2009 and was awarded a Silver prize. This encouraging result prompted a group of volunteers to initiate and coordinate further efforts within the community with the objective of developing civic pride about our community spaces and making them pleasant to look at.
The 'Colinsburgh - our Colourful Community' group area a friendly and informal bunch who contribute different skills and ideas, and with the help of others in the community, put these ideas into practice. The Group has benefited from a number of kind donations of money, bulbs and equipment, from a range of local organisations and businesses and these have been greatly appreciated and put to good use.
Aside from developing colourful containers, hanging-baskets, verge-side and garden displays, the Group also does an annual litter-pick around the village, as well as weeding and tidying verges. Our efforts were rewarded in 2017 when Colinsburgh gained a Gold Award from Beautiful Fife which made us very proud.
The Group also runs an annual litter pick and residents are encouraged to volunteer in order to keep the village and its environs clear of litter. In 2023 the litter pick is on the Saturday 6th May and volunteers are asked to meet at the Town Hall at 10:00 am.
