Colinsburgh Kids’ Community Garden

Information on the Kid's Community Garden Group

Introducing the project to develop a Community Garden for the children of Colinsburgh to grow their own food and learn new skills.

This community garden project aims to give the kids a place to try out growing food and flowers that they can call their own. Children will be able to participate in gardening activities both in and out of school. There are no fees for children or grown ups joining the project and all materials and equipment will be provided.

Currently our garden is three planters funded by the University of St Andrews Community fund. Expansion to a full garden will be dependent on interest among the children and the support of Colinsburgh residents, who are invited to find out more about the project at the Community Development coffee afternoon at Colinsburgh Town Hall on Sunday April 21st, 2-4pm.

We need grown ups to join in too, no experience necessary!

Due to child protection requirements two adults must supervise if the children are gardening without parents, so please get in touch if you might be able to join us. No gardening experience is required as tasks will be planned ahead of time and will be flexible depending on skill levels and schedules of everyone involved.

Adult volunteers who join in with the children during scheduled sessions in school time will need to join the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Adults) Scheme. This can be organised through the school by emailing: colinsburghps.enquiries@fife.gov.uk

Volunteers who wish to help with planning activities and maintain the planters but not participate with the children during scheduled sessions are very welcome and won’t need to join the PVG scheme.

Anyone interested in joining us in any capacity with the garden can contact:

This initiative has been developed by the Colinsburgh Primary School Parent Council. Initial funding for the establishment of the Colinsburgh Kids’ Community Garden was awarded to the Colinsburgh Parent Council by the University of St Andrews Community Fund.
