Town Hall Maintenance, Repairs and Improvements
In this newsletter we are highlighting the importance of fundraising to keep our vital community spaces functioning.
Every time you take advantage of the events, clubs and cafes you are directly contributing to keeping the Town Hall and Library functioning for generations to come.
Colinsburgh Community Trust is legally, morally and financially responsible for maintaining and improving the fabric, fittings and fixtures of the Town Hall and Library to ensure that both buildings continue to provide a safe and pleasant environment for village events and activities.
The Town Hall, built in 1894, is showing its age and requires frequent, essential repairs. It is also needing further renovation and refurbishment to ensure it is seen as an attractive venue for village events and activities, and for rental by third parties which can earn valuable income for essential running costs, such as insurance and energy bills.
Numerous, amazing individuals within the village work very hard to put on events in the Hall to raise funds for its upkeep and improvement. These include parties, film nights, discos, dances, concerts talks and events to mark special occasions (such as the Coronation). Other groups and clubs in the village have also donated funds from events they have put on, for example the Youth Club, Summer Fayre Group and the Craft Group.
Essential repairs to the Town Hall over the past five years have included electrical work, plumbing, skylight, fire exits, stone pillars, roof tiles and gutters at a cost of over £7,000. Renovations in the past five years have included new windows, new kitchen units, arranging replacement of the iconic arched window and replacing part of the roof. These improvements have cost over £100,000 so far and we have many more renovations and environmentally beneficial improvements to complete. Our long awaited arched window replacement will be installed this summer at a further cost of approximately £30,000. We are repairing the flooring and walls, installing a more energy efficient heating system and improving building security.
Alongside fundraising in the community by our wonderful volunteers we also apply for grants and receive donations from organisations such as Fife Environment Trust, East Neuk Trinity Church, Fife Council, Colinsburgh Primary School Parent Council, Balcarres Lodge, Balcarres Estate and Colinsburgh Settlement Trust. Thank you to all who have contributed.

Town Hall Events
Craft Sale and Defibrillator Training
On April 26th 10am to 1pm we will be hosting an event to showcase local crafts, get together for teas and coffees and share community plans for the year ahead. Alongside this, East Neuk First Responders will be hosting drop in training for the community defibrillators. If you would like to book a table for just £5 to sell your crafts please email enquiry@colinsburgh-community.org.uk
We will be hosting a raffle to raise funds for the Colinsburgh Primary School children to attend their residential trips to Ardroy, so please consider buying raffle tickets or donate prizes to help reduce the cost (£373 for each child) so that they can benefit from the valuable outdoor skills training and experience a weekend away together. The Parent Council have already contributed £1000 to this and have a fundraising target of a further £2000 to remove the financial burden for local families.
Badminton and Youth Club
Junior Badminton is on Thursday evenings for P3-P6 6:30 to 7:30pm and P7+ 7:30 to 8:30pm and Youth Club is on Monday evenings 6:30 to 8pm. Both will continue until the school easter holidays.

The Cinema is now well into its 16th Season. Audiences have been good, averaging at 45 per film. We had a very successful Film and Food with Dave and Karen McCormack providing a three-course meal for 62 attendees, followed by the film The Commitments.
There are six more films this season starting with the French film Ama Gloria. Films are screened every 2nd and 4th Friday.

The Soup and Blether volunteer team are making great progress on upgrading the Library. We are very grateful to Kellie Castle who have donated tables and chairs. The craft club is currently making new seat cushions and we will be displaying local art available to purchase on our newly painted walls. Please join us for Soup and a Blether on Fridays from noon.
Crafting Club
Our Crafting Club will be getting together on Fridays at 3pm in the Library. Please feel free to join us to discuss your current projects, get help with snags in your knitting, crochet or sewing, and brainstorm ideas for community projects.
