Colinsburgh Community Trust Working With the Balcarres Estate
Introduction
Colinsburgh Community Trust is working with the Balcarres Estate to develop proposals for improvements to the local community. This page describes the proposal in more detail, describes the consultation process and what happens next.
The Proposal
Following the end of a farming tenancy and the return of farmland back to the Balcarres Estate, the Estate now wishes to work with the community within Colinsburgh to draw up development proposals for the village, to see how part of the available land and unused farm buildings can be used to benefit the community of Colinsburgh.
The Estate asked the Colinsburgh Community Trust to run a consultation event with the community to draw up a set of ideas for further consideration.

What happened at the consultation event.
A consultation event took place on Sunday 21st April from 2pm to 4pm in Colinsburgh Town Hall.
We estimated that about 100-120 people attended the event, from all parts of the community and this was great to see.
After an introduction to the event by Anthony Crawford of Balcarres Estate, village residents considered and submitted their development ideas around 6 themes:
- Traffic Management
- Leisure and Recreation
- The Environment
- Local Enterprise
- Renewable Energy
- Young People
Over 85 idea forms were submitted, along with many other ideas on Post-It Notes.
What Happens Next?
We are pleased to tell you that the development ideas submitted on the day and via the web have now been collated into the following website:
https://colinsburghdevelopment.com/
The contents were also incorporated into the Community Council's Place Plan for Colinsburgh & Kilconquhar.
Over the Summer of 2024, Colinsburgh Community Trust began to make applications for charitable funding so that the development ideas could be progressed as active projects. Information on succesful project applications will be published under the Community Projects menu on this website and also on the Community Facebook page.
Thanks again to everyone how attended and thank you to all those involved in planning and running the event.
