Fundraising
How you can help
This page describes how individuals or organisations can raise funds to support community buildings and activities via either grant applications, fundraising events / activities or direct donations.
Why We Need Funding
The Town Hall and Library Improvements page describes a range of on-going or potential projects to improve the fabric, fittings and fixtures of the Town Hall and Library to ensure that both buildings continue to provide a safe and pleasant environment for village events and activities and wherever possible support the Green Agenda via the use of renewable energy technologies.
At time of writing (February 2024) the potential total cost of the more significant projects is £160,000 and we have raised £12,000 towards them, so there is still a mountain to climb!
Funds to cover these costs are acquired via a variety of means, which are listed below. You can also find out how you can make a donation yourself.
Grant Applications
The Community Trust Management Committee enthusiastically investigates all avenues to raise money from all available grant and charity relief options.
Over the years several large grants have been applied for successfully and the funds used for the stated purpose. These include:
- Hall Windows - the Fife Environment Trust awarded £48,000 to pay for new windows in the Town Hall.
- Hall Roof - the National Lottery Community Fund awarded £10,000 to pay for improvements to Colinsburgh Town Hall's roof and another £10,000 to pay for repairs to the anterooms.
- Library Shutters - the National Lottery also awarded over £8,000 towards these.
- Sustainable Heating in the Library - Climate Action Fife, Fife Council's Community Planning grant and Fife Rural Development Fund awarded a total of £5,500 towards new infrared heating panels for the Library.
In total over £93,000 has been raised by grant applications.
Colinsburgh Community Trust would like to thank the National Lottery and its players for making its funding available. This and all other contributions are all gratefully received.
Fundraising Events and Donations
Community building improvement activities depend very much on the support of village residents and local organisations and businesses to follow in the philanthropic footsteps of those who started the Town Hall over a hundred years ago, and help to provide facilities for the next hundred years. We have been blessed with several significant donations over the years.
Numerous individuals within the village work very hard to put on events in the Hall and Library to raise funds. These include parties, film nights, discos, dances, concerts talks and events to mark special occasions (such as the Coronation). Other groups and clubs in the village have also donated funds from events they have put on, e.g Youth Club and the Craft Group.
Since 2006 over £35,000 has been raised by these activities and donations and this is very much appreciated
If you want to donate
To date we have raised nearly £150,000 from all these events, donations, gift aid and grants but it is always great to receive more. If you want to make a donation, please contact us using the Enquiry Form.
