The Colinsburgh Community Trust was set up in 2022 to bring together the Community Library and the Community-owned Colinsburgh Town Hall under one administrative umbrella.

The Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee, run by trustees who are residents of the villages of Colinsburgh and Kilconquhar

Colinsburgh Community Trust is listed on the Scottish Charities website  where its purpose is defined as follows:

‘for the benefit of Colinsburgh, Kilconquhar and the surrounding area:-

  • the advancement of education
  • the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science
  • the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended’.

These purposes translate into three main objectives:

  1. To oversee the maintenance and running of the Galloway Library and the Town Hall and to raise funds to enable this.
  2. To make both premises available for: community functions, private hire, use by Colinsburgh Primary School, use by village clubs and societies.
  3. To provide a community hub where the Village can come together for community functions such as the Community Fridge and the Community Council and as a venue for discussing developments in the village.

Colinsburgh and Kilconquhar are villages with vibrant community life. The Horticultural society, which dates from 1939, has an annual Flower and Produce Show. The Hall hosts an established Badminton Club, a Youth Club, A Mother and Toddlers group and a Community Fridge which all meet weekly and the Community Cinema which screens every 2nd and 4th Friday between September and May.

The local Primary School uses the Hall as an extension to the School for P.E, Parent Teacher events, Christmas Markets and end-of-term events.

The Hall also hosts private parties, one-off car boot sales, Karaoke nights, family films and various other fundraising events.

The Galloway Library has been refurbished and entertains a Lego/Coding Club, Craft Club, a games night and a weekly Soup and Blether on Friday at midday.

Both venues are available for hire and are suitable for a variety of social events, clubs and  workshops as well as meetings.

The CCT Management Committee meets on a monthly basis and you can find copies of the minutes of its meetings on this website.
